Shettihalli Rosary Church, popularly known as the “Floating Church of Karnataka,” is one of the most unique historical landmarks near Hassan. Built in the 1860s by French missionaries in Gothic architectural style, this beautiful church once served a small Christian community in the village of Shettihalli. After the construction of the Hemavathi Dam, the surrounding area was submerged, and during the monsoon season, the church gets partially or completely covered by water. In summer, visitors can walk inside the structure and admire its arches, tall windows, and weathered walls that reflect its rich past. Today, the church stands as a silent reminder of a once-thriving village that was relocated due to rising backwaters. Whether viewed from the ground or captured by drone, the scenery is breathtaking and cinematic — especially during the rainy season when it appears to float on water. 📍 Location: Near Hassan, Karnataka, India 🎟 Entry Fee: Free 🚗 Parking: Available near the site 🌧 Best Time to Visit: Monsoon for the floating effect | Summer to explore inside #ShettihalliChurch #FloatingChurch #KarnatakaTourism #Hassan #HiddenGem #HistoricPlaces #TravelIndia #HemavathiRiver #GothicArchitecture #IncredibleIndia #OffbeatTravel
