A look at a Browning HI-Power 9mm pistol made in the early 1990’s in almost new condition. Since its introduction in 1935, the Hi-Power has seen service worldwide including use by both Allied nations and Nazi Germany in WW2. The legendary American gun designer John Browning began the Hi-Power design for the French government. After Browning passed away, the Hi-Power design was later completed by FN Herstal designer Dieudonne Saive who added the pistol’s 13 round staggered-column box magazine without an excessively oversized pistol grip or extended magazine. Saive would later be known for his FN-49 and FAL battle rifle designs, the FAL gaining acceptance with NATO countries and militaries around the world. The Hi-Power MkIII was the last model of the original pistol produced by Fabrique Nationale (FN Herstal). During WW2, after the Germans had captured the Belgium FN factory in Liege, production was moved to Canada where the John Inglis and Company continued to produce the pistol. Given the historical legacy surrounding this pistol, a Hi-Power should be a must have part of every modern military pistol collection.
