Hello everyone! Back from another really fun and exciting day out on the famous Bluebell Railway line! Been about my 3rd visit to the line this year but this is a particularly special occasion, as the newly built 32424 Beachy Head locomotive, a replica of the original locomotive that was first built as part of the LB&SCR H2 class and then withdrawn and scrapped in May 1958, leaving no original surviving members of the class left. It was in 2000 the the Bluebell Railway had announced their intentions to build an all new replica locomotive of Beachy Head, having acquired a GNR Atlantic boiler and a LB&SCR B4 Tender chassis in order to begin the project, and eventually overtime with more parts of the locomotive acquired and built, particularly with the chassis, rolling frames, driving wheels and the boiler being tested with great success, the locomotive finally rolled out from the shed this year and has just begun hauling official passenger services on the line. It's a rest testament and tribute to one of the most famous and historic Heritage Railways in the UK and the world as well. From being the first preserved Standard Gauge railway in 1960, to having their flagship locomotive Stepney featured in Rev W. Awdry's Railway Series books, and becoming a popular location for films, commercials and TV shows, as well as featuring on Elton John's Tumbleweed Connection album cover in 1970, it's one of the best and most beautiful lines to visit and one I'll gladly go to several more times for a while to come.
