I love building wheels, and I've built a lot of them over the last 25 years or so, and because of this, I'd like to share some of the things I've learned in that time. This isn't a step-by-step wheelbuilding video; rather, it's me building a wheel. Along the way, I'll explain some of the steps that I take in the process and give some tips that I think are useful so that you can build better wheels. I've tried to shorten the video where I could, but at a certain point, I felt like shortening it more was cutting into the value of it, so I decided to leave it long. Anyway, I'm working on it, and the video quality of this isn't where I'd like it but I hope you can benefit from the information. Please let me know if you have any questions, and please, if you get anything from any of the videos I make, consider liking and subscribing! Resources mentioned in the video: "The Bicycle Wheel" by Jobst Brandt Tools I like: Holy Driver by Problem Solvers for getting nipples started and threaded to an even depth for standard nipples. Squorx nipple driver by DT Swiss for doing what the Holy Driver does but with Squorx nipples, which incidentally, are what I used on this wheelbuild, and which I like quite a bit. Squorx spoke wrench- T-handle by DT Swiss. This is great for building a wheel with Squorx nipples. It's just not useful once you've taped the rim so I generally only use it for building. DT Swiss Spoke wrench, for doing the final truing in times when I'm not using squorx nipples. This holds all 4 sides of the nipple and is really effective at making sure that the nipples don't round out--even when you're going fast! Wheelsmith tensiometer. This is the fastest type of tensiometer, but as far as I know, they're out of production. I really like park truing stands, and the latest TS 4.2 is absolutely great. That's what I'm using in this video.
