Intelligence doesn’t automatically translate to investment success. In fact, it often works against you. You overthink, building complex models that miss simple truths. You fall for narratives. “This time it’s different” sounds convincing when everyone is saying it. You rationalize losses, protecting ego instead of learning. This session cuts through the noise. Just battle-tested insights from investors who have lived through cycles, mistakes, and compounding. What You’ll Learn This isn’t a lecture. It’s a conversation about the decisions that actually matter. The mindset shift: Why behavioral discipline consistently beats analytical brilliance Real mistakes: Common warning signs investors rationalize away and how to change that process Contrarian thinking: How to identify undervalued businesses when sentiment is against them Patience vs. stubbornness: Knowing when you’re holding a winner versus rationalizing a loser And much more Plus: Live Q&A where you can ask what you’ve always wanted to know about intelligent investing. Speakers Sachin Talathi Sachin, an alumnus of IIT Bombay and UC San Diego, discovered value investing as a physics PhD student in 2003 when he first read The Intelligent Investor. What began as intellectual curiosity evolved into a disciplined philosophy: buying quality businesses under distress and holding for the long haul. His contrarian approach is grounded in two decades of analytical work—50+ peer-reviewed papers, 10 patents, and career stops at Qualcomm, Amazon, Meta, and General Motors—sharpening his ability to uncover asymmetric opportunities at inflection points. In 2015, Sachin decided to pursue professional money management. He spent the next seven years building a verifiable track record through a self-funded IRA account, compounding capital at ~17.6% annualized. In 2023, he founded 26 Value Partners LP, guided by a simple premise: take care of the downside and upside will take care of itself. Since inception, the Partnership has compounded wealth at ~19.5% annualized while maintaining value discipline through the AI-fueled market euphoria. Amit Mahajan Amit Mahajan is a seasoned technology leader and long-term investor with over two decades of experience applying analytical rigor to both engineering and investing. An alumnus of IIT Kharagpur and UC Berkeley, Amit has spent more than 20 years in senior leadership roles at Qualcomm, working across multiple domains of large-scale technology strategy, development, and commercialization. He is also an inventor with numerous patents spanning advanced technologies. Alongside his technology career, Amit has been an active investor, deeply influenced by the investment and life philosophies of Warren Buffett and Charlie Munger. He focuses on disciplined thinking, long-term compounding, and avoiding permanent loss of capital, and regularly engages with analytical communities to bridge engineering mindsets with sound investing principles.
