Although we are unable to meet for rehearsals at the moment Iv'e kept in touch with the children in my choir Perfect Pitch, realising that they are all missing each other and that everyone is looking forward to things getting back to normal. We started to think about other children much less fortunate than those in Perfect Pitch and so wanted to do something nice for them. This inspired me to write the song 'One' which not only gave our children something positive to focus on but also helped them realise that this situation will pass and there are others who are missing out in a bigger way. Our sponsors, Steelworks Studios kindly produced the song which the children recorded remotely. Furthermore they amazingly offered a day in the studio experience to the wish children in their world famous Steelworks Studios in Sheffield, home of hit maker Eliot Kennedy, once the current situation passes. Like many other charities, Make-A-Wish® UK’s income has been significantly impacted by coronavirus. They estimate that they will lose £2.7m in this financial year. So many of these brave, inspiring children and their families have spoken about how important it was for them to have something to look forward to during this time. Make-A-Wish® have had to cancel or postpone 2000 wishes as a result of the virus. That’s 2000 children who are now waiting for their wish. That means that right now, critically ill children are in isolation with nothing to look forward to. Support Make-A-Wish® today and give the children something to look forward to.
