Folks, there is something to celebrate! For 9 days consecutively, our small city has detected no COVID infections so finally, we are free and we need to celebrate, just like how a spacecraft returns to earth and enters the atmosphere!! It's not totally safe yet but at least we are expecting to land again!!! May we present to you "Penetration" (cover), a song from The Venture's 1964 "In Space" album. Some songs in this album are beyond its time and we did "Out of Limits" in early spring. We decided to do a cover based on how Nokie Edwards and the gang did it in 1984 live on stage. Yes, when you were watching The Terminator, The Woman in Red and The Karate Kid, the Ventures were playing Penetration on stage. We found out the Ventures started using new Mosriter guitars instead of their usual Fenders starting from this album and despite I got our green Mosrite styled guitar ready for Mina, she decided to use a Tele, just like how Nokie did in 1984 on stage when he played this song. "Penetration" is a rather simple tune again (and a complicated one coming soon, Mina says) so Mina decided to play the drums too, which was actually quite interesting we believe. The band room finally re-opens so we will meet our bassist Twinkle and our drummer long tall Jennifer for the first time in 6 weeks very soon! We can finally dine in at a restaurant and tomorrow we will eat some wonton noodles, Phở, HỦ TIẾU BÒ KHO and probably a bunch of Gỏi cuốn with plum sauce and all, not to mention i will order my cà phê sữa đá (Vietnamese French roast ice coffee, the drip type, with extra condensed milk)...oh boy, I better hurry and get what I need to get done soon so we can go get our nucleic acid testing done, wait for the result (yes, one has to present a negative result before we could sit down at a restaurant, bar or coffee shop), jam in the band room and go eat at our favorite Vietnamese restaurant in town (which also serves awesome wonton noodles!) Hey, the economy has been so bad that I have a strong feeling that lots of businesses might close down, and that the government has to give out cash, spending cards and lots of subsidies to residents here. We better not go to the steak house at Wynn and should use our spending cards slowly...austertiy measures have to be implemented and it doesn't mean Uncle Ray is a cheap guy. But, we believe good days will come again! ;-) They always do. Once again, thank u for giving us continued support espeically during this tough times for us. Now, ride of the song: Aston Martin Rapide I know, we talk about austerity measures but hey, this is the time to get something that most people coudn't afford had we not encountered the pandemic that has lasted for over...oh boy, I can't even remember when it was that we started wearing face masks. Last week I got home and saw my next door neigbour's Rapide in his parking spot!!! How sexy and handsome!!! A super car with 4 doors, it's just right for the Cotton Kids! I didn't peep inside but I know the back seats are not gonna be too spacious. It should have enough trunk space for our guitars and rigs and all. The dashboard and the interior seems modern when Mina was at the age of zero. To be honest, it's a bit dated too. I particularly like the car for its doors to open and swing up at an angle, so careless (I should say carefree) passengers have a slightly lower chance of hitting the curb when they open the door. It doesn't look TOO exotic comparing to a Lambo and in fact, the design is a bit dated too but that's exactly why i like it a lot...it's subtle and it blends in. Well, an Aston Martin that blends it...who are we kidding?! But, it's an Aston Martin that blends in the best. I can't stand the DB7 for its design not being too appealing to my eyes in 20 years, but the Rapide should do better as it has an exterior design which is more aesthetic. So, V12 engine which i am not too crazy about, dated interior, a gas guzzler I have no doubt, cramped rear seats (and has no pinic tables) plus no rear side windows courtesy shades, still, it is a very sexy car that provides good practicality. An Aston Martin is still an Aston Martin. I will wait for my neigbour to get tired of it (he usually gets tired after 2 to 3 months) and one day, when I hit the lottery, i will just ask him to park it on my spot instead while he can go get something else.
