Tribute to the Legendary "CLAUDE NOBS" by Fashion Channel A passionate jazz fan and a visionary, Claude Nobs created the Montreux Jazz Festival in 1967 when he was working for the tourist office. The first Festival lasted three days. In 1973, Claude Nobs was appointed Director of WEA Switzerland. In 1977, the Festival took place over a record 23 days, offering an eclectic programme that was to set the pattern for years to come. Claude Nobs' flair, enthusiasm and open-mindedness rapidly enabled the Festival to acquire a unique international dimension. This spirit remains at the heart of the Festival, despite the death on January 10, 2013 of Claude Nobs, in its 77th year. As he wished, the adventure continues!
