You will learn how to interpret the EKG readings. We will be looking at how the EKG readings are generated and how the heart rate is calculated from the EKG reading. We will also be looking at how the heart functions to pump the blood through the body and how that correlates to the EKG. We will be continuing our introduction of the vital signs monitor, also called the multiparameter monitor. This monitor can be used to assess various aspects of the cardiac system, and today we'll be focusing on the electrocardiogram (EKG). We'll discuss the different waves and peaks on the EKG. The surgery today is an eyelid mass removal on a dog. The mass was rubbing directly against the cornea, causing irritation and discomfort.
