[Intermediate] How to fold a single square of paper into a stylish "Box with Lid" that can be used to store earbuds tangle-free. Or, it can simply be a gift box for small treasures. For a sturdy box, use heavyweight paper. For a decorative gift box, use decorative paper, or color/paint it however fits your fancy! I designed this model soley by request from my friend Miy'ala who completely conceived of this solution to tangled earbuds. In reality, I don't even use earbuds! Here are some extra attributes of this model worth mentioning: It's seamless -- In other words there are no extra creases or folds on any of the faces (except for the tiny creasemarks that you make in the beginning). Almost all of the raw edges of the original paper are hidden which translates into a very clean looking finished model. You don't need to divide the paper into 5ths or 7ths like other comparable origami gift boxes I've seen on YouTube. It's more economical (yields a bigger box relative to the starting paper size) than comparable box-with-lid designs, and it's simpler to fold too (at least in my opinion). The particular sequence of folds makes the lid naturally end up a hair larger than the base which makes it fit well over the box. Compared to plastic earbud containers, this model is lighter, softer, more pliable, a lot cheaper and, as I demonstrated in the intro, a lot easier to use (at least easier than the one made by Apple!), and if it does eventually break (after all it is paper) you can make it again and again, and that's part of the fun of it. Unlike other earbud containers, with this one you can easily shorten the length of the chord which means you are less likely to snag it on things that you pass by. It's customizable. Depending on the type of paper you use, you can make it different sizes, colors and levels of sturdiness, and you can decorate it with markers or paint it to your heart's content! Stylewise, since you probably like origami (if you're watching my videos), sporting an origami earbud case is an appropriate fashion statement as well as a nice conversation piece. #origami #jeremyshafer #jeremyshaferorigami Here are some ways to support me to make more awesome origami videos: 1.
