Typographics 2020: Whispers from the Andes with Vanessa Zúñiga Tinizaray

This talk took place on July 25, 2020 as part of Typographics Conference. The live streaming, recording and archiving of the event was made possible with the generous support of Google Fonts. A typographic-dingbat journey through the little-know stories of the original cultures that inhabited the Andes. Vanessa Zúñiga develops her design from the semiotic and morphological analysis of the archaeological pieces’ visual signs. Then she translates them into a contemporary graphic universe, where geometry plays a very important role. Known as “Amuki” (inner silence), Vanessa Zúñiga Tinizaray, is an Ecuadorian designer. Her passion has led her to investigate the visual signs of the ancestral cultures of Latin America. In a stage of globalization, her mission is to design, share and teach people to revalue the Latin American cultural heritage, to amplify and translate it globally. Her intention is to learn to appreciate and celebrate that heritage with pride and without prejudice.
