Alexander the Great invaded Afghanistan around 330 BCE after defeating Darius III in the battle of Gaugamela. Darius III was later betrayed by his Afghan governor Bessus who declared himself emperor of the Achaemenid Empire. So Alexander led his forces into modern-day Afghanistan (Bactria) and central Asia (Sogdiana) to punish him. Alexander also tried to build a fort (Alexandria Eschate) on the bank of Syr Darya (Jaxartes). But Afghans and their central Asian allies, including Scythians, resisted his occupation. Their leader, Afghan commander Spitamenes, proved the most formidable opponent to Alexander the Great. #DekhoSunoJano #FaisalWarraich #HistoryofAfghanistan 00:00 History of Afghanistan 00:04 Achaemenid Empire: Mightiest Ancient Empire 00:40 Modern Countries which were part of Achaemenid Empire 01:03 The battle of Gaugamela between Darius III and Alexander (331 BC) 01:43 Bessus declared himself the new emperor of Achaemenid 02:07 Alexander became the ruler of the Achaemenid Empire 02:55 Afghanistan: Graveyard of Empires 03:56 Why did Alexander decide to build the fort of Alexandria Eschate (The farthest Alexandria) 04:55 Afghans(Bactrians) started resistance against Macedonians(Greek) 05:44 Who was leading the rebellion against Macedonians 06:04 Flames of Rebellion erupted from the Syr Darya to Balkh 07:04 Alexander stood up to the challenge with full force 07:22 Alexander was injured by an arrow 07:52 Cruelties of the Macedonian army raised the spirit of the Afghan resistance 08:38 War tactics of the rebellions of Cyropolis 09:17 Alexander attacked Cyropolis 10:17 How was Alexander the Great rescued by his soldiers? 12:23 The Greek army was frightened from the physical appearance of Afghans and Scythians 12:59 Alexander continued to build the of Alexandria Eschate (The farthest Alexandria) 13:27 Alexander suffered the worst defeat of his life 14:26 The Rebels infuriated Alexander the Great 14:54 Stiff resistance of local population 16:47 Rebels attacked Balkh 17:43 Alexander killed his General Cleitus in frustration 18:08 How Alexander fell in love with Roxana 19:21 Alexander started to recruit a large number of Afghans and Central Asians into his army 20:04 Fate of Spitamenes 21:32 Alexander paid the heavy price to maintain peace in Afghanistan 21:58 Alexander died in Babalon in 323 BC in Babylon Follow Us: YouTube: / dekhosunojano Facebook: / janodotpk Twitter: / fswarraich Instagram: / faisal_warr. .
