Career counselling in higher education plays a key role in preparing students and graduates to navigate an increasingly dynamic and competitive labour market. In central and eastern Europe, universities are facing both shared challenges and unique national realities in supporting students’ transition from academic learning to professional fulfillment. This event aims to foster dialogue among experts and practitioners from the region, highlighting effective models, institutional approaches, and innovative practices in university-level career counselling. The discussions focused on the similarities and differences between career guidance systems in Southeast European countries, exploring how counsellors, psychologists, and educators can collaborate to enhance students’ personal and professional development. The event was facilitated by Elena-Irina Macovei, psychologist at the University of Bucharest and psychotherapist in private practice. With extensive experience in therapeutic work with adults and adolescents, she has supported individuals facing challenges related to career orientation, mental and emotional health, trauma recovery, anxiety, panic attacks, depression, stress and burnout, sleep disorders, phobias, post-traumatic stress disorder, addictions, and eating disorders. From Slovakia, Veronika Zibrinyiová, director of the Counselling Centre of the P.J. Šafárik University in Košice (UNIPOC) presented the current situation in Slovakia and the activities of the Centre. The guidance services provided to the Czech university students were presented by Přemysl Gubani, head of the Career Center of the Czech University of Life Sciences in Prague (ČZU). Hungarian services of the Hungarian University of Agriculture and Life Sciences were presented by Anett Balogh.
