Players can choose to control either Rayman, Globox or two Teensies, with additional costumes available as the game progresses. The story follows Rayman plus his friend Globox and two teensies, one with green clothes and the other with black clothes, who as they fight against the Darktoons, psychlops and other evil creatures that infected Rayman's homeland. Players travel through each level, fighting enemies and rescuing Electoons. As the game progresses, players gain new skills, such as running through walls, sliding in the air after the jump and shrinking in size to allow them to reach new areas. If a character is hit by an enemy or obstacle, it will dilate until another player can bring him back into the game, hitting him, similar to New Super Mario Bros.
