Ayoob P. M., in this video of a speech at Swathanthra Lokam 2015, discusses the subject from a rational point of view. This talk was inspired by Islam propaganda that the well known rational thinker Anand has bias towards the Qur'an. The speaker discusses the epistemology of both schemes. Islamic epistemology is based solely on the Qur'an; a freethinker's epistemology is based on empirical evidence and reason. They are compared and contrasted. The hilarity of discussions based on no real evidence is exemplified. The discussion moves on to discuss the book "Virunnukaranum Vettakkaranum," which is a piece around which the above mentioned propaganda is centered. The claims that there are lines in the Qur'an encouraging thinking are addressed. The appeal to ignorance about of faith being beyond reason is busted. The disagreement of freethinkers to any book or person is due to the stagnation that could come. He concludes by saluting the march of progress. He also addresses questions from the audience.
