The Ford Mustang II Prototype was a concept car built by the Ford Motor Company in 1963. This pre-production Mustang is essentially the same car that would later be introduced as the 1965 Mustang. The car was exhibited at several auto shows and features a removable fiberglass top, a high-performance Cobra-modified engine, and a four-speed manual transmission. Despite its name, the Mustang II Prototype bears few design cues from the Mustang I. It was designed by Joe Oros and based on the Falcon/Comet/Fairlane platform. The pearl white experimental car was first showcased at Watkins Glen in September 1963 and was presented to the auto enthusiast press as a direct precursor to the production Mustang that debuted in April 1964. #retrocar #FordMustang #MustangIIPrototype #AutoShows #ConceptCar #AutomotiveHistory #ClassicCars #HighPerformance #CobraModifiedEngine #JoeOros #FalconCometFairlane #ProductionMustang
