My first time catching the French Air Force C-130! This was very cool to see. It seems like most people forget that the French actually operates quite a few of these birds! The French Air Force operates a fleet of 16 C-130 Hercules that are used for cargo transport. They also ordered 2 KC-130J's that will be used for aerial refuelling. This specific C-130H (4588) started its life in 1975 when it was delivered to Zaire (What is now known as the Dominican Republic of the Congo). The French Air Force took delivery of it in 1997 where it remained since. The aircraft arrived from New York a few hours prior. The reason for the visit was to deliver important cargo (I assume from the U.N to the French consulate here in Montreal). The initial plan for the C130 was to spend 2 days here, however due to limited parking space at YUL, this was not allowed. So as a result, the crew had to ferry the aircraft to Mirabel (YMX) instead. Total flight time was approximately 10 minutes! ____ Facebook Page: / aviationcyul Twitter: / mark__brandon (@Mark__Brandon) Flickr: https://www.flickr.com/photos/cyulpla...
