When the Laborfest weather turns sour, we turn up the heat indoors. With some pods from the garden and some kindly sent by subscriber Chilibrains, I put together a chocolate-pod-flavored jelly with a surprising amount of heat. Chocolate Scotch Bonnet, Chocolate 7Pot Congo SR Giant, and Chocolate Bhutlah peppers bring waves of heat and rarified flavor. By itself, it tastes richly of fresh pod with a nice burn and a fantastic sweetness. On the traditional cracker with cream cheese, it's a pretty great snack with a pretty great burn on the backend.
