One of the most popular viewing spots on Waiheke. You can begin the walk at Palm Beach Hall, located next to the Red Shed Art Gallery. Head up Miro Road until it ends, where you’ll find a peaceful, shaded bush path leading to Cory Road. Turn right onto Cory Road and follow it to the lookout, with views over Palm Beach. From here, a trail will take you down to Little Palm Beach, also known as Nudey Bay. However, we had a car and weren’t into unnecessary walking along roads, as we were getting plenty of steps in anyway. So we started on Palm Beach. This way wasn’t a loop, but you get maximum scenic views for half the time. Start on Palm Beach and walk behind the rocks to Little Palm Beach. Little Palm Beach is such a beautiful spot — a lovely little clear bay — but be aware of bare bums haha. This sheltered spot makes for an excellent nudist beach. It’s not too busy, so if you keep your head down you can avoid any unwanted views haha. I guess if you wanted to avoid this beach, you could go the other way. Anyway, at the far end of Nudey Bay you’ll see signs for the lookout and a track heading up the hill. This track isn’t too bad; it winds nicely around the side of the hill so it’s not too steep at all. There are some great views along the way and good places to stop. The walking tracks are much like some of the roads on Waiheke — hanging on the edge, thin, with blind corners haha — but they are all safe. I loved the little paths on this walk; it made it feel more of an adventure. Once at the top, the views overlooking Palm Beach and Little Palm Beach are beautiful, and you understand why it’s one of the most photographed areas. From here you could continue the loop, but we headed back to the beach for a swim at Palm Beach in our togs haha.
