Hall County teacher Jason Hughes was struck outside his home during a “junior-senior wars” prank tradition, his family says rainy conditions caused him to slip into the roadway and now they are asking prosecutors to drop charges. Hughes, 40, taught math at North Hall High School in Hall County, Georgia and also served as an athletics academic coach and mentor to student athletes. The incident happened Friday night outside his home on North Gate Drive while students were “rolling” the house by covering trees with toilet paper. The family says Hughes knew students planned to prank him and was waiting to catch them. They say it was an accident and there was no confrontation. Full story: https://www.11alive.com/article/news/... As students drove away, Hughes was struck by a pickup truck driven by 18-year-old Jayden Ryan Wallace. Students stopped immediately and tried to help until emergency crews arrived. Hughes later died at Northeast Georgia Medical Center. Wallace is charged with first-degree vehicular homicide, reckless driving, criminal trespass and littering. Four other teenagers are charged with criminal trespass and littering. The Hall County Sheriff’s Office is investigating and Northeast Circuit District Attorney Lee Darragh says it is too early to discuss possible outcomes. An online fundraiser has been created for Hughes’ wife Laura and their two sons Owen and Luke.
