A day session on the Parkland lake at Eye kettleby Leicestershire.

It was 12noon Friday 27th September , I’d rushed home from work, dropped the car seats and loaded the boot with all my fishing gear and food for the weekend ahead.My wife got home at 12.30 and got herself ready for our local trip to Eye Kettleby lakes Leicestershire. I’m excited like a kid on Christmas eve for the simple reason I’d not been here for a couple of months, which Is a long time to not visit one of my favourite Carp lakes. We arrived at 3.30pm and immediately set about getting the caravan sorted, I then set up my carp barrow and loaded it with all my fishing gear ready for an early Saturday morning start. A quick coffee was the order of the day before setting off on a short walk towards the lake. Upon approaching the water I noticed that there were quite a few anglers going about their Carp fishing exploits, Seven If my memory serves me correctly. The water was choppy with a westerly wind pushing through the surrounding trees and foliage. My appetite was being whetted with the buzz of seeing all these rods on pods and bivvies rustling in the wind. Oh for tomorrow morning to come around. I’m walking the lake talking to anglers to find that they’re all saying the same thing, Oh mate It’s not fishing well at all Is the popular response. My thoughts; Not to worry It’s the challenge that gives us that competitive motivation right? After feeling pretty damn rough throughout the night after quite a substantial Chinese take away on the Friday evening, I really didn’t think I’d make it to the lake Saturday morning. To my surprise I got myself up at 5.45am and found myself at the lake for 6.15am to find another four anglers already setting up their gear in their chosen swims In the quest of catching one of our beautiful aquatic creatures.
