Today we’ll be taking a detailed look at Reolink’s TrackMix WiFi security camera. All important to know before you buy. All my outdoor tests are performed in temperatures as low as -25c or -13f. Today's Chapters: 00:00 Introduction 01:36 What’s Included 02:50 Technical Specs 09:34 Connectivity / Setup 10:49 Auto-tracking 14:38 Final Thoughts This camera is available for about 120$ US through the Reolink website. It often goes on sale, so make sure to check out the price for your region. In the box: 1. A quick start guide 2. A drill template for either wall mounting the camera or ceiling mounting 3. Next, this reminder to ensure your Reolink NVR is updated 4. A Window sticker 5. 3ft or 1m network cable 6. A 4.5m or almost 15ft extension power cable. 7. A AC/DC 2 amp plug 8. This is a pack if screws and anchors. 9. And lastly, we have the camera itself. It's well built and solid. I can’t even tell what’s metal and plastic. The white top and mount along with the black supports are plastic and the main white body and the shell around the camera a metal. Next, we have the mount. It’s a part of the camera’s structure, so there’s nothing to assemble or parts to figure out. It allows for a wall or ceiling mount and like the rest of the camera, it’s super solid and well-designed. The camera comes equipped with 2 beefy and durable Wi-Fi antennas. They support both the standard 2.4 and 5GHz frequencies that pretty much everyone uses in their homes. Moving onto the back of the camera, we have the speaker. There is an alarm which can be triggered from the app, or when motion is detected. Here on the bottom of the camera, we have a weather proof door. Beneath, there is a factory reset button. Press and hold the button using a pin for 10 seconds to reset the device. Just above that, we have a micro-SD card slot, for cards up to 256GB. The camera allows for continuous recording or just when motion is detected. 64GB card, will provide about 20 hours of footage. A 256GB card, will give you close to 80. This means, a computer or NVR is not required to save footage and works perfectly as a stand-alone device, without having to purchase anything more than a memory card. This camera works great with the Security Camera Management tool for PC called Blue Iris The lens on the camera’s right side is the wide-angle lens that records at a constant, panoramic 104-degrees in 4k. Nice and wide and definitely covers an impressive area at its best quality. The other camera, records at 2k but its lens offers optical zoom from 2.8mm up to 8mm; all at an impressive aperture of f1.6, which allows a lot of light to enter the camera in light-challenging conditions. The viewing angle for this lens is also 104-degrees at its widest, but when zoomed in, the angle is 38-degrees. I love how the wide angle ensures no details are missed while to zoom lens catches details up close. Connectivity Options 1. Connecting the camera with an ethernet cable to the NVR directly. 2. Instead of connecting the camera to the NVR, it can be connected directly to your network with a network cable. The NVR can see the camera and record and playback footage over the network. 3. Since, this is a Wi-Fi camera, of course it can be connected to your network over Wi-Fi. Again, once it’s on the network, all devices can see it including the NVR. The NVR is optional and footage can be recorded using a micro-SD card. Using any of these options, the camera live view and footage are available anywhere using the Reolink app. Make sure that when you get the camera up and running to perform the manual firmware update. 4. 4th option now since Reolink introduced their wireless NVR. This camera can be connected to that NVR directly over WiFi. Auto-tracking 1. Digital Tracking: This one tracks and zooms in on the subject digitally. The camera doesn’t pan, tilt or zoom. 2. Digital Tracking First: Same as above but the camera with Pan and Tilt. 3. Pan/Tilt Tracking First: Like the previous, but this one will use the 2k optical zoom, depending on lighting, the distance the subject is from the camera and the size of the subject.
