D'autres femmes avaient déjà couru le marathon de Boston, mais aucune n'était inscrite officiellement. Son coach n'avait qu'une condition : qu'elle s'inscrive au marathon. "Personne ne pensait qu'une femme pouvait ou voudrait courir, pourquoi l'envisager alors ?" Pendant la course, un homme se jette sur Kathrine Switzer et la menace. Il était furieux et elle était terrorisée, il voulait la faire sortir de force de la course. Cette scène a été immortalisée et les photos symbolisent la lutte d'une athlète pour participer à une compétition. Switzer a franchi la ligne d'arrivée ce jour-là et n'a jamais cessé de courir. D'autres femmes dans le monde ont suivi son exemple et ont commencé la course à pied. Switzer a aujourd'hui 70 ans et a achevé son 40ème marathon. Elle veut maintenant prouver qu'une personne âgée peut rester en forme et active. Script : It's a simple concept. Today at 70 years old, Switzer ran her 40th Marathon. The higher reason. Now is not to prove that women can do it.
