TUCSON, Arizona (WPMI) A controversy has erupted at an Arizona high school over some quotes in the school's 2014 yearbook. The questionable quotes were redacted by using black tape, ruining a moment for some high school seniors. Thirteen photos in all have black tape next to them, including the yearbook's student editor. Once the yearbook was printed, the school noticed the quotes. An outside company provided the black tape. Students didn't get their yearbooks until two days before graduation. "There was one quote, a writer, who said that she likes to write "caucasianally" ... and it was a play on words. There wasn't anything racial about it," said parent Lori Oien. "There was another: girlfriends, one hispanic, one caucasian and they said nothing better than having a best friend as a hispanic and the other one said, nothing better than having a white girl as a best friend." The school plans to strengthen oversight next year and is offering students a full refund of $75 for the yearbook. They say so far, they've only had one request for a refund.
