On February 11th, NHV hosted a special pre season run specifically for #17, which is due for her 1472 day FRA inspection within the coming months. Today would mark her final day of excursion service for the next few years, as she is disassembled to go through the necessary points of inspection. I made it up in time to snag the last run of the day, per usual the spritely teakettle put on a good show. After arriving at the yard and stowing the consist away, the crew took turns running 17 up and down one of the yard leads before finally stowing her away for the season. Two ex US Army GE 80 tonners were purchased to fill her space on the roster, and expand the "at the throttle" program. While it will be different to not hear a whistle echoing through the pines, at least she is receiving the work necessary to ensure her operation for the foreseeable future.
