Hi everyone, ******** UPDATE FOR ADDIONAL HELP. TRY FIRST IF NO DRIVE, OR CLUTCH IS SLIPPING.I HAVE ADDED THIS DISCUSSION TO THE COMMENTS ASWELL. There is another way you can try to resolve the clutch before stripping your gearbox if it's the same issue. Lift the clutch arm/lever of the hexagon spline and turn it further away from the bracket holding the cable. You will need to adjust (remove tension here to allow for the major adjustment) the bracket that holds this cable to make this work. You can reveal the hexagon spine by removing the plate that holds the lever arm tight to the gearbox. As far as I am aware, it was an M6 bolt. It will feel much tighter to squeeze the drive hand lever, but it will put more pressure on the clutch basket, getting these friction brass parts of the clutch to engage properly. Don't worry about too much tension on the cable, a spring is on the cable to compensate for this. To make this clear, you want to turn the lever arm one notch clockwise and then re-install the lever hold plate. My 3 speed gearbox is still going years later, with all these tweets. UPDATE END ******** ORIGINAL DESCRIPTION. Here’s a little video I didn’t have planned, but I just decided to go ahead and cover the repair of the self-drive gearbox/clutch on my John Deere JS63c lawnmower. I know it's not my usual projects, but it’s something until next week, and it is quite interesting how I brought the clutch back into spec with no new replacement parts utilised. Moreover, these mechanical wearable parts can’t be purchased, so I just altered a component of the clutch to make it work the way it should with the existing parts. On the other hand, I could have purchased a complete gearbox at a huge cost discussed in the video, but that’s bonkers when a few hours revamped the old unit. The Drummond 1900s Lathe 27 Speed Digital Conversion Part 3 (Smart Electro Belt Pretensioner) will continue next week. I hope everyone enjoys.
