From the Blaze Foley album 'Clay Pigeons' Listen here: https://lnk.to/TtWGSm1S Buy here: https://www.lostartrecords.com/ ©Lost Art Records 2020 Lyrics: I almost felt you touching me just now I wish I knew which way to turn and go I feel so good, and then I feel so bad I wonder what I ought to do If I could only fly, if I could only fly I'd bid this place goodbye to come and be with you But I can hardly stand, I got nowhere to run Another sinking sun, another lonely night The wind keeps blowing somewhere everyday Tell me things get better, somewhere up the way Just dismal thinking on a dismal day Sad songs for us to bear You know sometimes I write happy songs But then sometimes little things are wrong You know I wish they all could make you smile Tomorrow maybe we can get away I'm coming home soon and I wanna stay I wish you could come with me when I go again If I could only fly, if I could only fly I'd bid this place goodbye to come and be with you But I can hardly stand, I got nowhere to run Another sinking sun, one more lonely night If I could only fly If you could only fly If we could only fly There'd be no more lonely nights About the album: Compiled from home, studio and intimate live recordings between 1976 - 1988, this 'Best of Blaze' sampler features Blaze's renditions of songs since covered by Merle Haggard, Willie Nelson, Lyle Lovett and John Prine. This compilation was originally released by Secret Seven Records in 2011 and re-released in 2020 by Lost Art Records. Widespread recognition eluded Blaze during his lifetime. Murdered in an early morning altercation just days following the recording sessions for his Live at the Austin Outhouse release, Blaze was just 39 years old. Two tracks from those sessions appear this album. Blaze's reputation as a singer-songwriter has exploded in recent years. Lucinda Williams' "Drunken Angel," and Townes Van Zandt's "Blaze's Blues," both heartfelt personal tributes to their good friend Foley, have added to a legacy once nearly forgotten. Musicians: Blaze Foley, Gurf Morlix, Jimmy Don Smith, Tony Braunagel, John Hill, Riley Osbourn, Ed Bradfield, Sarah Elizabeth Campbell, Lost John Casner, Champ Hood, David Waddell. LOST ART RECORDS.
