The Las Vegas Loop is an underground transportation system built beneath the Las Vegas Convention Center and extending to select resorts on the Strip. Designed to reduce travel times across the sprawling convention campus and beyond, the system uses a network of tunnels that bypass surface traffic. It represents one of the first real-world applications of modern underground transit technology in a North American city. Passengers travel in Tesla vehicles that shuttle through the tunnels at speeds of up to 55 km/h (34 mph). The system currently connects the West, Central, and South Halls of the LVCC, with an extension to Resorts World Las Vegas already in service. Future expansion plans aim to link major destinations across Las Vegas, including hotels, casinos, Allegiant Stadium, and Harry Reid International Airport. Launched in 2021, the Vegas Loop demonstrates Las Vegas’s commitment to innovation and convenience for both convention-goers and tourists. While still in its early stages, it highlights the potential of underground transit systems to reduce congestion and reshape urban mobility.
