Scenic drive around downtown Manhattan Beach, California. Manhattan Beach is a coastal beach town located in the South Bay of Los Angeles County. Manhattan Beach is just south of Los Angeles International Airport (LAX) and about 20 or so miles from downtown Los Angeles. Manhattan Beach is known for a laid back lifestyle, the iconic pier and the world famous Strand, which is an ocean front pedestrian path. Manhattan Beach is one of the three Los Angeles South Bay Beach Cities. The other two are Hermosa Beach and Redondo Beach. Manhattan Beach is one of the wealthiest cities in Southern California and homes are among the most expensive anywhere in the US. Manhattan Beach Real Estate is typically more expensive than properties in Hermosa Beach or Redondo Beach. That means that any of the homes you see in the video are worth at least a few million dollars and some a lot more than that. As a general rule of thumb, the closer to the Pacific Ocean, the more expensive the real estate is. Downtown Manhattan Beach is located in the real estate area called the "Sand Section" and includes homes on the Strand and the Walk Streets. Manhattan Beach is not only a great place to live, it's also a wonderful place for a visit. Many tourists stay on the Shade Hotel which is located right in downtown Manhattan Beach. There are also some local smaller hotels located in the north end of Manhattan Beach - the area known as El Porto. Whether you live in Manhattan Beach or are just visiting, you'll find that the beaches are not as crowded as elsewhere in Los Angeles. Of course there's surfing, volleyball, swimming, bike riding, skateboarding, and all the activities you associate with Southern California living. The South Bay Beaches are considered the best in Los Angeles by many beachgoers. The video starts on Manhattan Beach Blvd heading west toward the pier and first explores the public parking north and south of the pier before heading back east towards Manhattan Ave. The downtown drive explores stores, restaurants and shopping along Manhattan Avenue, Highland Ave, and Manhattan Beach Blvd before heading north to the El Porto neighborhood in the north end of Manhattan Beach where there are more stores, restaurants and shopping. El Porto is considered to have some of the best surfing in Los Angeles. With a few exceptions - yes there is a Starbucks and Skechers, you won't see a lot of large national brands or chains. Okay there is a Vuori and Marine Layer but those aren't exactly household names. At least not yet. And about all the Skechers you see - they are headquartered in Manhattan Beach so there are both stores and offices. For dining, there's local restaurants such as Nick's Manhattan Beach Post, the Kettle, Rock 'n Fish, The Strand House, Fishbar, Arthur J, and many, many more. You'll see some of them in the video. The video also has scenes of some residential housing - particularly in the areas adjacent to downtown or the beach. That's one of the reasons you see so many real estate offices downtown. You might notice that there are a number of streets you can't walk on - which is why they are called "Walk Streets". While walk streets are also found in Hermosa Beach and Venice CA, there are more of them in Manhattan Beach than anywhere else in Los Angeles. You'll glimpse the Walk Streets heading down to the ocean as the tour passes those streets. If you are interested in homes in Manhattan Beach, you can check out many other videos on this channel.
