Please like and subscribe. Today we will be taking a look at my personal collection of United States currency. My banknote collection includes pieces spanning the entirety of American history since the Revolutionary War. The collection includes notes from 1777 all the way to the present day. In terms of categories this collection includes colonial currency that circulated throughout the American colonies. The collection also includes "obsolete currency" which circulated throughout the early 1800s which were printed and released by local and regional banks prior to the United States centralizing and standardizing American currency. There are also confederate currency notes in the collection which circulated in the Confederate States of America throughout the American Civil War. The peculiar "fractional currency" is also part of my collection. These fractional currency notes came in small denominations denomination that ranged between five ($.5) cents to ($.50). Fractional currency was typically used to pay for postage and other small value items. Another type of interesting note in the collection are silver certificates which were notes that were exchangeable for their value in silver. National bank notes which were released by national banks chartered by the United States government can also be found in my collection. National bank notes were released up until the 1930s when the program was discontinued. Perhaps the most interesting notes in my collection are the large size banknotes which were often referred to as "horse blankets" because of their large size as compared to modern bills. Finally the collection includes many modern variety notes including United States notes which were issued all the way up until 1971, when they were discontinued when they were exclusively replaced by the Federal Reserve notes we still use today. This currency collection includes many common and a few very rare pieces. Some of the banknotes have been graded by either PCGS or PMG the premier grading companies for paper money. Many of these banknotes have considerable value to collectors. All of the banknotes released by the United States government or the federal reserve can still be used at face value for purchases today! This banknote collection is well-preserved and one of the best examples of a United States paper money collection that can be seen on YouTube. I hope everyone enjoys this video.
