I became fluent in Italian in one year (cheesy montage)

Oct 1 2017: I started learning Italian as a complete beginner Oct 1 2018: I spoke with three Italian teachers for half an hour each, 100% in Italian, and asked them to assess my level. All three thought I had reached a B2 level - the level that most language experts agree is 'fluent'. My grammar was not perfect, but I was able to understand almost everything said to me (or make an intelligent guess at the meaning), and I always found a way to respond and communicate my ideas while keeping the conversation flowing. I achieved this by working consistently and scientifically every day for exactly 365 days in a row. I averaged about 50 minutes of study per day, sometimes more, sometimes less; over the course of a year this added up to just over 300 hours total. I completed this challenge on top of full time work, full time study, and while also studying for a German B2 exam.
