Navigating Medicinal Cannabis in Australia | QENDO Women's Health Week Event Join us for this exclusive Women's Health Week Event, where we hear from thought leaders in the Medicinal Cannabis space to empower you with the information you need to navigate what can at times be an incredibly confusing space. This panel presentation aims to remove some of the confusion and answer some of the most commonly asked questions around medicinal cannabis in Australia. Our speakers include; Dr Wendy Tyshing graduated from Monash University with a Bachelor of Medicine and a Bachelor of Surgery in 1986. She further specialised for another four years in the Family Medicine Program with The Royal Australian College of General Practitioners before entering private general practice. Dr Tyshing has been practising medicine for over 25 years. She has developed the skills to manage patients with complex needs including chronic pain, mental health and addiction treatment. In the past 2 years, Dr Tyshing has begun prescribing medicinal cannabis to assist her patients struggling to manage refractory and chronic pain. Medicinal Cannabis has provided another option for patients that are unable to tolerate their pain levels; some of which are already on the maximum tolerated doses of other prescribed medications. As a female practitioner, Dr Tyshing has gained significant experience in managing women’s health issues. She has been at the forefront of education for both patients and doctors, regarding the benefits of medicinal cannabis for women, particularly those who have endometriosis. Tegan Scates, Founder of High on Hemp. Tegan’s journey within the Australian hemp industry commenced in 2014 which subsequently lead her to the creation of High on Hemp. It was her passion and desire to play a key role within the industry to educate those living within Australia on the insights and knowledge she has gained from her extensive global travels and networks. Diandra Phipps is the COO of Tetra Health, a leading healthcare network that assists patients and physicians in accessing legal medical cannabis across Australia. An entrepreneur at heart, Diandra is passionate about start-ups and disruptive industries, especially those which positively impact health. A key focus of her business ventures have been based on improving quality of life for those with unmet clinical needs. Diandra was first introduced to medical cannabis after seeing the positive effects on a close family member. Soon after, she sold her thriving plant-based restaurant and took a dive into the world of cannabis, helping launch National Access Cannabis's East Coast division of brick and mortar clinics - a national clinic chain in Canada with over 30,000 medical cannabis patients. NAC was an emerging and high growth company where Diandra honed her skills across business development, healthcare education, clinical trials, government relations and clinic operations. With over 4 years experience in the medical cannabis and adult-recreational industries in Canada, Diandra made the move to Australia in early 2018, away from a successful market with over 400,000 active medical patients, to 380 in Australia. Through strong relationships in the Canadian market, she was able to quickly form a number of key relationships that allowed Tetra Health to grow into a major clinic player in Australia that prides itself on expert opinion and patient centric support. Georgia Stuart, is an endometriosis, adenomyosis and fibromyalgia sufferer, who is an advocate in the chronic health space, sharing her experiences living with chronic conditions with her online community. Georgia also is an advocate for the use of medicinal cannabis within Australia, having been prescribed it last year, and having experienced first hand the benefits it can have.
