Directed by Peter Hyoguchi ROBOTECH: NEW GEN We follow a group of young freedom fighters led by Scott Bernard as they battle the alien Invid, who have conquered Earth and forced humanity into hiding after the fall of the Robotech Masters. Traveling across a devastated planet on transforming Cyclone motorcycles, the team searches for the missing SDF-3 while struggling with loss, limited resources, and growing responsibility. Blending coming-of-age themes with large-scale sci-fi conflict, the series emphasizes resilience, friendship, and the hope of reclaiming Earth from overwhelming odds I'm happy to share my workflow. So, just to add a little more context: with my recent short films, I know some folks worry about AI taking jobs. But honestly, there’s no budget in the first place for these projects I’m making on my phone with these public, free AI tools. No one’s losing out on money that never existed. In fact, I wouldn’t be able to create these sci-fi, fantasy, and action visions at all if I had to constantly chase funding that never comes. This way, I get the freedom to express my vision precisely how I see it, without sweating over budget constraints. It’s just another tool in the artist’s toolbox. Creatively speaking, there’s a ton of Ai hate but now that I’ve spent hundreds of hours working with it, I can tell you most people are totally wrong about how it works and what it is. When I design a shot, I’m designing the set, one location and prop at a time. I find images online or take pics myself and modify them. Then I assemble in photoshop and blend and merge with ChatGPT. Then it’s time to go into production. I choose what’s lit, what’s not lit, where the light is coming from, the intensity and the color. I’m deciding what time of day or night, the weather, etc. Then I’m deciding what kind of camera, exposure, lens type, aperture and focus. Then I work with the “camera” - I use a dolly, techno-jib, hand-held, steadycam or sticks. For the cast, I build the actors using combinations of photographs and prompts to change height, weight, skin tone and structural features. Then I built their wardrobe from images I find online and alter to fit my vision. Just like building a character in a video game. I direct the performer just like I would an actual actor. Their eye-lines, blocking, speed and intensity are all deliberate choices I’m making. It’s not sloppy. It’s precise. The motion pictures generated by my AI direction is pulling from hundreds of thousands and sometimes millions of photographs and videos that were uploaded on the Internet over the last 20 to 30 years. So in effect, these AI tools are remembering a conglomeration of images. Like if I were to draw a man on a bicycle from memory, I would pull from hundreds of thousands of memories of men riding bicycles that I’ve seen, and my drawing would be a representation of all of those memories. That’s AI. That’s what AI is. And it’s a wonderful tool for acceleration and expression - free of any budget concerns. People were appalled and outraged at talking pictures. They were appalled and outraged with Color Film. They were appalled in outraged at CGI and digital cameras. But they’re all just tools. Like a paintbrush is a tool. There’s no paintbrush slop. There’s no 35mm slop. And there’s no ai slop. There’s good art and bad art and the tool is not to blame. Don’t blame the brush and learn what Ai really is and if you’re an artist, jump in! it’s not sloppy unless you are.
