​EP DESK, NGORLUNG,12 March 2026: The 4th Edition of the Nonga Tagi Memorial Inter-Club Cricket Tournament officially commenced today at the GSS Ngorlung Playground, marked by a vibrant inaugural ceremony and high-energy opening matches. ​The tournament, organized by All Star Ngorlung-Ralung, was inaugurated this morning with Smti. Dui Padung Gao, Retired Senior Lecturer, DIET Pasighat, attending as the Chief Guest. Joining her was Shri Kangkim Lego, President of the East Siang Cricketing Association for Banggos and Clubs (ESCA), who served as the Guest of Honour. Addressing the gathering, Chief Guest Smti. Dui Padung Gao emphasized the importance of a holistic approach to youth development. She remarked that studies and sportsmanship should be valued equally, noting that the discipline and resilience learned on the field are just as vital as academic achievements. ​Furthermore, she advocated for greater inclusivity in local athletics, suggesting that in upcoming events of this nature, women should also be given a chance to participate and showcase their skills, ensuring the spirit of sports reaches every member of the community. Organiser Shri Enuk libang, from the all star Ngorlung-Rallung highlighted about the programme and gave insights about the 4th Edition of Nonga Tagi memorial cricket tournament wherein a total of 8 clubs participated this year. The tournament commence way back from 2022, dedicating sportsmanship and promoting brotherhood” he added. ​The opening day saw two decisive victories as teams battled for early dominance in the Round-1 fixtures. ​Match 01: Singing Stars vs. Mitet Sirum ​In the tournament opener, Mitet Sirum batted first, setting a target after scoring 87 runs for the loss of 6 wickets. However, the Singing Stars showcased a dominant batting performance, chasing down the target in just 8 overs while losing 4 wickets. Man of the Match: Lenzing Taying (Singing Stars) for his crucial knock of 45 runs. ​Match 02: All-Rounder XI vs. Golden Raising Stars NR ​The second match of the day proved to be a one-sided affair. Golden Raising Stars NR struggled to find momentum and were bundled out for a total of 64 runs. All-Rounder XI made quick work of the chase, reaching the target in 8 overs without losing a single wicket.
