Featuring 4 tracks, his latest coup is an exercise in the beauty of dissonance. ‘Master of my Fate’ is a haunting track bound to polarize. Detuned to breaking point, a resonant pad sets the scene for a mesmerizing vocal that intertwines with the synths to create an eerie layer of ethereal melancholia. A tom-ridden groove and impatient cymbals provide the groundwork for the breathtaking soundscapes unfolding above. A compact kick drum introduces the listener to ‘Secret Sense’. Percussive resonant stabs and pads emerge, build, and recede in waves of warmth, finally giving in to an epic lead. ‘Secret Sense’ is a track of ebb and flow, gradually pulling the listener in and out as the highs and lows play an enticing game of hide and seek. ‘Illumine’ returns to blissful dissonance. Detuned keys are at the center of this heart wrenching track, while a smattering of rides seems to merge with an array of glittering synthesizers. ‘Illumine’ hits the listener in the soul and is reminiscent of beauty in the darkest of places. ‘Paramour’ is the groover of the pack. A rapid beat of nuanced tambourines, congas and percussives unfolds gradually, accompanied by an emotive and slowly evolving pad. Bells, guitars and horns enter the fray to create an ethnic soundscape drawing on a wealth of musical heritage in limbo between east and west.
