Footage shot by Channel 4 news shows the desperation of the refugees as they mob a helicopter. In a dramatic rescue mission, the helicopter touched down for five very precious but awful minutes. A number of Yazidi civilians were airlifted off the mountain, away from the reach of Islamist extremists whose aim is to wipe them out. In the footage, fraught Yazidis can be seen being plucked from the mountain top by an Iraqi army helicopter - others begging to be - as conditions there worsen. In the desperate struggle to save Iraq's stranded Yazidis, many can be seen breaking down in tears, after 10 days stranded on the mountain with no food and no water in 33 degree heat.
