The Sea is Rising. or, perhaps, it’s already risen? Long before Noah and his Ark, our ancestors sung of the man who saved all life by weathering the great storm on his boat filled with animals. One of this man’s names was Atrahasis. Another was Utanapishtim, with the label Noah being a late, if popular, addition. In this video, we’ll explore these different versions of this ancient flood myth, and track how it’s evolved over time. Many of the inconsistencies of the Torah can be explained by remembering the time when the contradictions in Adonai’s voice were not internal hypocrisy, but divine dispute.
