Rome is probably the most historic city in all of Europe, once the capital of the Roman Empire. There are many things to see and do in Rome, but here are the ten most amazing places to visit. You must have gelato in Italy, and one of the best ones we visited in Rome is called L'Arena Del Gelato, which you can find in Vatican City. The gelato is freshly made with few ingredients and contains no additional colors or preservatives. Gelato is made with fresh milk and fresh pure ingredients. They had many delicious gelato flavours and L'Arena Del Gelato is highly rated and has also won many awards. Largo di Torre Argentina is also a must-visit place in Rome due to it's significant history. The Colosseum is still very well preserved and had a capacity of 50000 spectators. Another iconic place to visit is the Victor Emmanuel II Monument. This grand and impressive monument was built between 1885 and 1935 to honour Victor Emmanuel II, the first king of a unified Italy. It truly is a remarkable monument which you must see in Rome. The Circus Maximus is an ancient Roman stadium and mass entertainment venue in Rome where chariot-racing used to take place. It is a very iconic grand-scale ancient stadium which hosted some of the biggest sporting events. One of the best places to get a panoramic view of Rome is from Castel Sant'Angelo. This is a very historic castle which was initially built as a mausoleum for Emperor Hadrian and his imperial family. It later became a castle and a Papal residence for the Pope. You can get some of the best views of St. Peter's Basilica in Vatican City from Castle Sant'Angelo. From Rome, you can walk into Vatican City, the world's smallest country and visit the Iconic St. Peter's Basilica. You can also climb the dome of St. Peter's Basilica to get some of the best panoramic views of St. Peter's Square and Rome.
