This is a demonstration of Motaro in the arcade version of Mortal Kombat 3. Read on below for more information... This video shows pretty much all the player can do with Motaro without freezing the game. In Mortal Kombat 3, trying to play as the bosses or hidden characters is prone to freezing the game. There's only several things a human player can do, and they're all pretty much useless. You will NOT be able to pull off any of the proper moves or special moves the CPU Motaro can do. However in terms of freezing, it's actually far more 'lenient' than the bosses/hidden characters in Mortal Kombat 2. For movements which require Right/Up-Right/Down-Right to be pressed, you must have the direction held/pressed BEFORE the round starts. If you press these directions AFTER the round has started, it'll freeze the game. Surprisingly, the Left/Up-Left/Down-Left directions are flaw-free. The LP/HP/LK/HK/Block buttons are also flaw-free as well. If the Block button is pressed and released, Motaro does an odd move where he zooms forward in his jump animation, you can even hit the opponent as well with it in the air. Only the Run button will cause problems, and that is when you press this button it must be held down - if you release the button the game will lock. You can also perform a strange function which you can do over and over again which puts lots of red lights from his fireballs onto the top of the screen. If you put too much on screen, the lifebars will start to blink and disappear. You can see this happen starting at 5:59 in the video. He also seems to have a little bit of CPU AI embedded in despite being controlled by a human player. To activate this you need to use the other player and perform half a combo on Motaro (do not finish the combo, leave the last hit out) and he'll sometimes automatically grab and punch the opponent. Sometimes he'll do the little jumps or even walk back. You can see this happen starting at 8:04 in the video. It seems that the game is programmed in a way that when a human player controls the bosses, it flags the bosses as 'regular' characters. This is why you get the really odd animations in some areas, for example the jumping up and crouching. In all of the arcade versions of the 2D Mortal Kombat games, selecting and playing as the bosses and hidden characters through alternative methods is extremely flawed - one wrong move by the player will lock the whole game. This is of course due to the fact that the bosses/hidden characters in the game are not programmed for a human player to control.
