Rapsodia alla latina by H. A. Stamm

Composed for my organ concert on 23th october 2009 within the International Organ Festival in the cathedral of Saltillo, Coahuila, México this piece has been premiered on the little but strong one-manual-6 stops-Walcker organ from 1907 of the cathedral. The piece is dedicated to Gabriela Romero Pinto. The recording has been made on 12th March 2010 on the Mönch organ in St. Andreas, Leverkusen, Germany, as this organ has a greater variety of sounds than the Walcker organ of the Saltillo cathedral, which has its own charm and a mighty roomfilling trumpet stop. I added a short video passage from the organ console of this little one manual instrument, from the interieur of the cathedral and street life scenes of Saltillo. The score is available through the composer ([email protected]). The British organ virtuoso Christopher Herrick added a short description of the piece for his own concert program (thanks for this!): "After the opening flourishes, this toe-tapping Rapsodia launches into a groovy fugue, but soon abandons academic restraint and becoming unashamedly and joyously alla latina."
