Spirit: A Bahá’í Perspective

This presentation examines the concept of spirit. Bahá’í Scriptures state that “In the world of existence there is nothing so important as spirit” and that “the essential reality is the spirit”. These statements seem to suggest that we need to give high precedence to an understanding of this concept. We will correlate the Bahá’í concept of spirit with those from linguistics, mathematics, science, philosophy, and cognitive science. Ideas from different sources will be brought together to help with an understanding and appreciation of the profundity of this ineffable concept. Dr. Kamran Sedig is a professor at Western University, Canada. His Ph.D. was in human-computer interaction design and children’s education. His M.Sc. was in artificial intelligence. And his B.Sc. was in computer engineering and science. His current research is interdisciplinary, at the crossroads of computing, human-information interaction, visualization, cognitive science, and medical informatics.
