In today’s video, we will be discussing your approach to loss of consciousness differential diagnosis. ▬ 📃 Differential Diagnosis of Loss of Consciousness Now firstly, you need to ask the patient the following questions that include these domains: ▬ 📜 History Taking for Sudden Loss of Consciousness Now, there are some important questions, that you need to ask about the patient before making a diagnosis. Firstly, you need to ask the patient or the caretaker about the symptoms like: 👉 Fever, shaking chills, headache, sweating, tremulousness, convulsion, trouble breathing, cough, nausea, vomiting, painful or difficult urination, dark urine, a recent change in urine quantity, change in sensation or movements. Secondly, you should ask if he has had any of the conditions like: 👉 Convulsions or seizures, emotional problems, nervous system disease, diabetes, high blood pressure, renal or liver disease, alcoholism, lung disease, heart disease. Now, one more important question you need to ask is if there is a history of the above diseases in their family. You should also question your patient about: 👉 Use of sedatives, tranquilizers, insulin, and opiates. ▬ 📃 Loss of Consciousness Physical Examination Now, that you are aware of the symptoms of your patient. What you are supposed to do next, is the physical examination of the patient.
