In this episode of AFTHtv we talked with Emily and Mark, transracial adoptive parents from AFTH's Central Pennsylvania office. They discussed their hesitance of the possibility of adopting a child of a different race, since they came from a very small town. Regardless, they decided to educate themselves and proceed with an transracial adoption. While the process has not being all easy, they have worked to expose their daughter to as many racial mirrors as they can. In addition to having an open adoption with her birth family, so their child understands her culture and feels identified.
