Alamo Guest House 46 Gray St, Kelvingrove, Glasgow G3 7SE https://www.alamoguesthouse.com/ We decided to stay in the West End of Glasgow because most of the restaurants we wanted to visit ended up being in that area. It was more expensive than the other guest houses in the area but the rooms looked amazing! First of all the building is gorgeous and when you arrive for check-in there is an antique doorbell you have to PULL! How cool is that?! The rooms and the common areas are beautifully furnished and the hosts are super nice. Breakfast is in this awesome dining room and the menu is fantastic! We stayed for 6 days and pretty much tried everything. 1. Kelvingrove Park 6 Professors' Square, Glasgow G3 6BY https://www.glasgow.gov.uk/index.aspx... Literally across the road from the guest house is Kelvingrove Park which has the River Kelvin running through it. 2. The Clydeside Distillery 100 Stobcross Rd, Glasgow G3 8QQ http://www.theclydeside.com/ Down towards the River Clyde is the Clydeside Distillery which is only a 15 min walk from the guest house. They have a shop a cafe and you can do distillery tours here. 3. Ashton Lane https://goo.gl/maps/2cCZp8pcfytyEbJY9 Ashton Lane is a cute little street with lots of bars and restaurants. Its a great place to grab a drink and a snack and do some people watching. 4. Kelvingrove Art Gallery and Museum Argyle St, Glasgow G3 8AG https://www.glasgowlife.org.uk/museum... Kelvingrove Art Gallery and Museum is only a 5 min walk from the guest house. It's free to enter and there is an art gallery one side and a museum on the other. 5. Glasgow Botantic Gardens 730 Great Western Rd, Glasgow G12 0UE https://www.glasgowbotanicgardens.com/ Glasgow botanic gardens is further down the river kelvin and has a beautiful glass greenhouse called Kibble Palace. 6. Wander the streets One of my favourite things about Glasgow was the architecture. We just wondered around checking out the buildings, street art and local area. 7. University of Glasgow Glasgow G12 8QQ https://www.gla.ac.uk/ The university campus is huge and has a new section and an old section and we were able to walk around both. The old section is the bit everyone goes to see and was on top of the hill overlooking the park. If you head towards the gift shop and walk upstairs you'll find the cloisters and the area everyone likens to Hogwarts. 8. Glasgow Cathedral Castle St, Glasgow G4 0QZ https://www.historicenvironment.scot/... Glasgow Cathedral is on the east side of the city and is also free to visit. We went on a bright sunny day and the stained glass windows were beautiful with the sun shining through. 9. Glasgow Necropolis Castle St, Glasgow G4 0UZ http://www.glasgownecropolis.org/ As you come out of the Cathedral, on the left you'll find the entrance to the Glasgow Necropolis. It's a huge victorian cemetery on top of a hill and I was a bit dubious about going to a cemetery but once you get to the top you're treated to stunning views of the cathdral on one side and the city on the other. 10. Glasgow Town Centre We didnt spend much time in the town centre but there was lots to see and do. Some of the things we passed... Buchanan Street for a spot of shopping (18-176 Buchanan St, Glasgow G1 2FF) George Square for a few selfies (Glasgow G2 1DH) Gallery of Modern Art for some culture (111 Queen St, Royal Exchange Square, Glasgow G1 3AH, http://www.glasgowlife.org.uk/museums...) Festival Village for some al fresco food and drink (Candleriggs, Glasgow G1 1SS) Super Bario for some vintage arcade games and a few beers (7 King St, Glasgow G1 5QZ,   / superbarioglasgow  ) Glengoyne Distillery Dumgoyne, Killearn, Glasgow G63 9LB https://www.glengoyne.com/ On our last day in Glasgow we booked a distillery tour with a whiskey and chocolate tasting at Glengoyne distillery which is a 30min drive from the guest house. Fun fact- Glengoyne is the only distillery which can say it's whiskeys are made in the highlands and matured in the lowlands because the road that runs through it is the highland boundary! Behind the distillery you can visit the glen where they used to get the water to make the whiskey. There's also a shop where you can pick up a bottle or 3 of your favourite tipple! In the shop you can also bottle your very own whiskey from a special distillery cask chosen for unique flavours and rareness. This was a Palo Cortado cask which is a rare variety of sherry which then contributes to the unique colour and flavours of the whiskey.
