Riding the New York City's MTA Manhattan M15 Select Bus Service bus bound to East Harlem, during day time, on the right side of the bus. This is a full route. In this ride, you'll get a glimpse of almost all bridges on the East Side of Manhattan, you'll briefly see the Titanic Memorial Park (03:44), you will hear some weird explosion sound in Chinatown (05:53), and you'll get a nice extended view from the United Nations Headquarters (17:11). Bonus for Seinfeld fans: This bus route stops at 1st Avenue & East 1st Street (10:22), which according to Kramer, it must be the Nexus of the Universe. Check it out here: • Kramer Gets Lost Downtown You can read more about the Titanic Memorial Park on Wikipedia: https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Titan...) == About the Select Bus Service =============== The Select Bus Service (SBS) is an express service bus that usually runs over an existing route, making express stops. In the case of the M15 SBS, it runs over the same route as the M15 bus. However, the M15 SBS makes only 20 stops, while the regular M15 makes 60 stops. Another curiosity about the Select Bus Service, is that you're not supposed to pay for the fare inside the bus. Instead, you're supposed to get a fare ticket on ticket machines installed at the bus stop (you should see them quite a few times along the video), and keep them for the duration of your journey. You may be asked for them as proof of payment, and you may get fined if you don't have them. The intention behind this method, is to speed the boarding process on these buses. Select Bus Service buses usually open their rear doors for passengers to board as well. With the adoption of Omny in New York City (the tap-to-pay system), you are allowed to tap to pay inside a Select Bus Service, since the ticket machines installed at the bus stops don't take any type of payment other than a Metrocard loaded with enough credit to pay for the trip. =============================================== Recorded on Nov 27th, 2022.
