With funding under the Infrastructure Investment and Jobs Act (IIJA) of 2021 expiring on September 30, 2026, reauthorization of federal highway spending will begin in 2026. Reauthorization creates a major opportunity for Congress to implement changes in federal transportation policy. Join AEI’s Richard Geddes as this distinguished panel of experts will address a range of issues confronting Congress as it undertakes reauthorization. Those include reform of the environmental permitting process (or NEPA), facilitating greater private investment in American’s infrastructure via greater use of Private Activity Bonds (or PABs), and addressing massive highway funding shortfalls associated with greater use of electric vehicles, which pay no gas or diesel tax, among many other topics.
