The day before recording, I told myself that the first thing I had to do the next morning was write a simple melody as a theme for my next improvisation. It's the little melody you hear at the beginning of the video. This improvisation feels really special to me—it gave me so much confidence in my playing. Definitely one of my favorite pieces I’ve composed. In simple songs like this, I like to focus more on the silent parts—on what’s left unsaid.
