A Bristol 2015 arts project for St George & Greater Fishponds. The project: ‘Discover East Bristol’ is a beautiful, accessible and informative map that encourages a broad spectrum of residents from the St George and Greater Fishponds areas to enjoy, and take pride in, their local green spaces for many years to come. Content, derived through a series of interactive and creative community workshops, has been incorporated into both the physical and online versions of the map. A cohesive marketing campaign will be developed by the artists and Bristol City Council in spring 2016, to promote both the map and the variety of green spaces in the area to local residents and the rest of Bristol. The artists: The project team comprises of eight experienced creatives, including illustrators Dave Bain, Hannah Bailey, Dawn Cooper, Lucy Davey and Zoe Power, designer Chris Woodward and digital designers Dan Hayman and Peter Horsham. They share a wealth of experience in community arts projects, both locally and nationally, and specifically in creative mapping design. • Worked with 8 different artists & directly engaged 468 people • Printed 10,000 physical maps identifying public green spaces in St George and Greater Fishponds to be used by local residents and wider Bristol • Created online interactive map with downloadable activity sheets Part of the Bristol 2015 Neighbourhood Arts Programme.
