I used the GoPro HERO 13 Black's TimeWarp feature to capture a recent bike ride on the Delaware & Lehigh (D&L) Trail in Glen Onoko, Pennsylvania. The D&L Trail runs from just outside Philadelphia all the way to Mountain Top and covers over 140 miles. The trail segment in this video is from Glen Onoko to White Haven is only a small piece of the entire trail. I didn’t show it in the video, but for this ride, I parked in the Jim Thorpe Municipal Parking Lot off Lehigh Avenue. I got to the parking lot early in the morning on a Saturday and had no issues with parking (there were tons of spots!). That said, by the time I returned from my ride in the early afternoon, the parking lot was absolutely slammed with traffic (so just be aware if you are planning to go later in the day) – it was a nice spring day and the parking lot is also used for the Lehigh Gorge Scenic Railway, which is the main reason why it was so crowded (lots of people just out walking around downtown and along the river too). I started the video once I got across the Lehigh River – you also can’t see this in the video, but right behind me where I start the video is another large parking lot specifically for the D&L Trail (it was the same story in this parking lot – empty when I left, and completely full by the time I got back!). Once on the trail in Glen Onoko, I headed north – trail conditions were nice when I went – there were some softer spots, but a lot of the trail had already been resurfaced (with more resurfacing for some of the soft sections to come) and it was a nice fine gravel for pretty much the entire span to White Haven. The trail parallels the Lehigh River for the entirety of this section, and it was neat because you are right next to the scenic train route for most of this trail section (I saw the train once in the distance on my way back, but that was it – I wish it had gone by during the video!). The only other parking / populated area that I came across on this section of the trail was at the Rockport Trail Head (about halfway through) – there was a good amount of parking and a lot of people with fishing gear for the river. There are also several great waterfalls that I went by near Rockport. Overall, this ride came out to about 46 miles total (I did it as an out & back so about 23 miles each way).
