This video documents the full construction process of a two-story boat dock in Austin, Texas, built in a waterfront environment with constant exposure to wind, moisture, and fluctuating water levels. The project begins with the installation of 45-foot structural piles, which are driven into the lakebed to provide foundational support for the entire structure. Proper pile depth and alignment are essential to ensure long-term stability. Following the pile installation, a structural steel framework is constructed across two levels. Steel is used for its strength, durability, and resistance to environmental stressors. Each beam and connection point is installed with precision to maintain structural integrity under dynamic loading conditions, including water movement and vessel impact. Once the primary structure is complete, synthetic decking and framing systems are installed. These materials are selected for their resistance to moisture, UV exposure, and wear over time. The decking provides a stable and low-maintenance surface, while the framing supports consistent load distribution across the dock. The project also includes a poured concrete upper deck, adding rigidity and additional usable space to the structure. Two 20-foot hydraulic boat lifts are installed to allow for controlled lifting and storage of watercraft. This video presents the construction process in real time, focusing on the visual and mechanical aspects of building in a marine environment.
